A/R : Residents of Dangombaline express worry over rising crime rate

Some residents of the Dangombaline in the Oforikrom Municipality of the Ashanti Region have expressed worry over the high crime rate in the area in recent times.
They mentioned armed robbery attacks, rape and defilement as crimes that were common in the area.
This came to light at a clean up exercise on Easter Monday, organised by the Assembly member in the area Hon John Nkatia
The exercise brought together residents and stakeholders in the area to interact and share developmental issues affecting them and how they could be addressed.
Some of the residents also raised concerns of poor sanitation, lack of water, smoking of cannabis as well as the use of hard drugs as some of the major challenges in the area.
They, therefore, appealed to the Oforikrom Municipal Assembly and the security agencies to help address the situation.
Hon John Nkatia, Assembly member of the area, in his address indicated that the Assembly was aware of the situation and assured residents that efforts were being made to address the situation.
He urged the residents to contribute some little fund to enable the Assembly make the operations of night volunteers effective.
