MUSIGA President extols talents Kidi, Kuami Eugene and Gyakie

World Music Day is an annual celebration observed on 21 June around the world. It is a day to encourage young and amateur musicians to perform.
On this day, also known as Music Day or Make Music Day, anyone can play their favorite instruments for enjoyment and relaxation.
Speaking on Omanbapa Morning Show with Nana Ampratwum, President of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Bessa Simons praised enthusiastically young and rising Ghanaian talents Kidi, Eugene and Gyakie on World Music Day.
”They are doing very well and we have to support them”, he responded to question posed to him by the host whether the new trend of artists are doing well in High Life music.
According to Mr. Bessa, young High Life artists such as Kuami Eugene, Kidi and Gyakie are putting Ghana on the map and he enjoys listening to their songs.
“Oh yes, i really like listening to their songs. I mean Kidi, Eugene and Gyakie”.
The ‘Belembe’, ‘Awo yi’, ‘Yaaba’, ‘Bom Bom Bom’ hitmaker also mentioned Akwaboah as the current and one of the best Highife artist.
He vowed to use his decade long experience to enlighten the young artists.
The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) is the country’s body for all Musicians and Music professionals. It was incorporated in 1975 and has over 4000 members.
MUSIGA is affiliated with several Ministries in Ghana, including The Ministry of Chieftaincy and Culture, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Education and the National Commission on Culture.
With a mission to promote and preserve ‘Ghanaian culture through education and equipping the Ghanaian musician to be self reliant, creative and industrious,’ MUSIGA is governed by a National Executive Committee elected at a National Congress.
The Union offers its members help with music contracts, copyright registration services, pension and insurance, welfare fund for its aging members and a loan service. It also helps organise Ghana Music Week, Ghana Music Awards and the Grand Ball.
