Fatawu Mohammed: Hearts of Oak are ready for Africa

Accra Hearts of Oak captain, Fatawu Mohammed says the team is ready to participate in next season’s CAF Champions League after winning the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL).

The Rainbow Club also capped the season with another domestic trophy after defeating Ashanti Gold SC 8-7 on penalties to lift the MTN FA Cup last Sunday in Accra ahead of their Africa campaign.

Speaking in an interview with Edmund Osafo Addo on SilverFM’s breakfast sports show dubbed RoyalSports, Skipper Fatawu Mohammed assured supporters of the Accra-based outfit that the playing body are adequately prepared to make an impact in next season’s CAF’ inter-club competitions.

‘’Let us all be patient and wait for Accra Hearts of Oak show when CAF Championship begins’’ Fatawu told SilverFM.

Accra Hearts of Oak first won the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League (GPL) trophy their first major title since 2008/09 , 21st GPL title after 12 years.

The Phobians made a second domestic cup victory after defeating Ashanti Gold SC 8-7 on penalties to win the 2020/21 MTN FA Cup at the Accra sports stadium on Sunday.

The Rainbow Club have now achieved the double for an unprecedented 6th time; 1973,1979, 1989/90, 1999, 2000, 2020/21.

The victory means the 2000 CAF Champions League winner will be making a return to Africa’s most prestigious club competition for the first time in a decade.
