Hearts of Oak can overcome difficult tasks at CAF inter-club competitions – Saddick Adams
t is not going to be easy competing with African greats, but if the boys believe in themselves that they can deliver
Former Asante Kotoko striker, Saddick Adams believes former rivals Accra Hearts of Oak can make an impact in next season’s CAF Champions League (CAF CL) if they believe in their abilities to complete tasks in the campaign.
The prolific striker indicated that despite the tough CAF CL tests that awaits the Phobians, with self-belief and confidence the players can help Hearts of Oak repeat the same dazzling output that saw them complete domestic double this season.
Hearts of Oak completed this season’s domestic double; winning the Ghana Premier League (GPL) and topping it up by defeating Ashanti Gold SC 8-7 on penalties to lift the MTN FA Cup last Sunday. It was the 21st league title for the Phobians and the first title in 12 years for the club. They have now achieved the double for an unprecedented 6th time; 1973,1979, 1989/90, 1999, 2000, 2020/21.
‘’It is not going to be easy competing with African greats like Al Ahly, Zamalek etc. but if the boys believe in themselves that they can deliver after securing this season’s domestic double, I think they can make an impact in the continent campaign’’
‘’One cannot predict football because it has been so many years since Hearts of Oak lifted a double and with positives from their victory, I believe they can repeat the same feat in Africa’’ Adams told SilverFM.
In his days as a striker in the Ghana Premier League, Adams established himself as one of the best forwards due to exploits at Berekum Chelsea, Ashanti Gold and Asante Kotoko.
He last played as a striker for Bangladesh Premier League club Arambagh KS.
Saddick Adams has also had international career with Ghana U-17 in 2007, in the 2011 CAF U-23 Championship which was a qualifying tournament for the 2012 London Olympics.
In 2017 he debuted for the Ghanaian national team Black Stars.
