Don’t allow COVID 19 fears prevent you from seeking health care – A/R Health Directorate
Many patients thought they would contract the disease if they visit the hospital for health care during these trying times of COVID 19 outbreak
The Ashanti Regional Health Directorate has indicated that hospital facilities in the region are safe and has therefore urged the public to seek medical emergencies without fear of contracting corona virus.
The Deputy Health Director in Charge of Public Health, Dr. Rockson Michael Adjei said the turn outs in various hospitals especially pregnant women reduced drastically in the region during the Covid-19 pandemic.
He attributed the reduction in patient turn outs more specifically to the coronavirus pandemic scare.
”Many patients thought they would contract the disease if they visit the hospital for health care during these trying times of COVID 19 outbreak” he told Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame
This, he said, affected many health facilities in the country leading to the shut down of several hospitals in the region but was quick to suggest that hospital attendance is gradually returning to normalcy as COVID 19 eases.
Dr. Rockson added that health workers have been trained on how to manage the pandemic and have been provided with the needed equipment to help protect people from contracting the disease at the facilities.
He, therefore urged all persons seeking medical emergencies especially pregnant women and patients to feel free to visit the hospitals because the health facilities are safe.
