Final year student of Tweneboah Kodua SHS dies after attempting to scale school wall
A 19-year-old student of Tweneboah Kodua Senior High School in the Ashanti Region has died after jumping over the school wall.
Edward Duut is alleged to have scaled the wall to avoid a routine check by the Prep Master, but landed with his chest in a gutter behind the wall, getting hurt in the process.
The Kumawu District Police command has commenced investigations into the circumstance that led to the sad death of the final year student.
The police indicated that the 19-year-old allegedly attempted to scale the wall together with his colleagues but could not land well which unfortunately resulted in his untimely death.
The District Police Commander, DSP Opoku Agyemang Prempeh who spoke to Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame that around 10 pm on September 21, 2021, the Prep Master of the school popularly called “Ogidi” went to the dormitory to check whether the students had gone for Prep.
He said when the students saw the Prep Master who is also a Tutor of the school, they tried to run to avoid him.
Mr. Prempeh further explained that the deceased, Edward Duut who was asleep at the time woke up to join his colleagues to escape by scaling the dormitory wall.
He said the deceased while scaling the wall, unfortunately, landed in a gutter behind the wall, getiiing injured inthe processed. Duut was then rushed to the Kumawu Polyclinic where he was pronounced dead in about 3 minutes upon arrival.
DSP Prempeh said the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Besoro Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Statement forms have been given to the headmaster of the school to be given to witnesses in the school to write their statement including the prep Master, DSP Prempeh revealed.
The District Police Commander said no arrests have been made yet, but investigations are underway to bring out the cause of death.
Family of the deceased have been informed about the boy’s death but the parents are not convinced on the development so far.
