Oforikrom Municipal Assembly endorses Kwame Antwi

The Municipal Chief Executive nominee for Oforikrom Municipal Assembly has received 85.7 percent endorsement by Assembly Members.

Eighteen (18) Assembly Members voted YES out of 21 Assembly Members to approve Mr Kwame Antwi, a former Constituency Chairman for Asokwa.

He becomes the newly Chief Executive for five Municipalities carved out of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly and the second to be endorsed in these municipalities.

“It feels great. It means that the people of Oforikrom and of course the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo have great confidence in me…. so I am ready to continue with whatever the former MCE started,” he said of his appointment and confirmation.

Mr. Antwi told Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame in an interview that his immediate task would be to continue some projects which was started by his predecessor especially projects like proper drainage system that can be done by the Assembly to prevent flooding and improving sanitation in the area.

The MCE revealed that an engagement with the Assembly members is eminent to find ways to address the heavy traffic and sanitation issues.. He also promised to tackle the flooding problem in the area when rains set in.

On his part, the Presiding Assembly Member, Hon. Frank Frimpong disclosed that, sanitation is one of the critical areas that need to be looked at in the area. He said the activities of scrap dealers in the area has contributed greatly to this problem .
