GPL Wk 1 Round Up: Kotoko, Bechem start on high notes, Hearts begin title defense with stalemate

The 2021-22 Ghana Premier League season officially kicked off last Friday with debutant Accra Lions being held to 1-1 draw by Fearsome Sharks at the Accra Sports stadium.

Asante Kotoko kicked off the 2021/2022 campaign in the Ghanaian top-flight league with a 3- 1 victory over Dreams FC. The Porcupine Warriors came from behind to beat Dreams FC at the Accra Sports stadium on Saturday.

Coach Prosper Narteh Ogum substitutes worked the magic for the Reds to pick the maximum points.

Title holders Accra Hears of Oak were stunned at home to a 0-0 draw by Legon Cities on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Newly promoted side Bibiani Gold Stars earned a historic 1-0 victory at home over Berekum Chelsea in their first game in the Ghana Premier League.

Bechem United walloped Medeama 4-0 at the Nana Gyeabour Park. Emmanuel Avornyo scored twice on his debut with Francis Twene adding the other.

King Faisal recorded a delightful 1-0 win against Academy lads West Africa Football Academy(WAFA) the 2021 / 22 season opener at the Kumasi Sports Stadium.
