At least seventeen travelers have lost their lives in an accident that occurred on the Offinso Abofour road early hours of Monday.
An eye witness, Benjamin Abeka who spoke to Nana Ampratwum on Omanbapa Morning Show indicated that , a Sprinter bus heading towards the Northern Region collided with a trailer-truck in the opposite direction.
In his initial report to SilverNews desk, about Twenty-Four(24) passengers on board the Sprinter mini bus had lost their lives but further checks confirmed that 17 passengers have given up the ghost with some 14 others sustaining various degrees of injuries.
The lifeless bodies of the dead have been deposited at the morgue at St. Patrick Hospital at the time of filling of this report. The injured persons are said to be receiving treatment at the same facility.
According to the Offinso Motor Traffic and Transport Department, preliminary investigation reveals that the Sprinter driver lost control of the steering wheel after he dozed off which resulted in the unfortunate head-on with the Sprinter from the opposite direction.
“The driver including the 17 passengers on the Sprinter are dead. He lost control of the vehicle, he was fatigue and needed to have pulled over for a while to rest before continuing the journey …. The injured have all been rushed to the hospital for treatment. .”
