Collapsed bridge affecting socio-economic activities at Ejuratia Residents

A collapsed bridge linking Ejuratia in the Afigya Kwabre South District and other communities in the area has posed a serious threat to socio-economic activities in the area.

Residents bemoaned the deplorable state of the bridge, which connects Hemang, Ejuratia, Mpobi, Ankaase through to Mamponteng adding that is greatly affecting trading, healthcare delivery, education and farming activities in the area since most drivers are unable to ply the road.

They indicate that the bad nature of the bridge is long overdue for about six months now and has now become a death trap.

The few drivers who tried to use the road are also charging exorbitant transport fares.

The Assembly member for the area Hon Kwame Agyei told Silver FM’s Akwadaa Nyame during a visit to the community that the road became inaccessible any time it rained.

He said though there was on-going construction work on Aboaso to Hemang-Ejuratia to Ankaase road, there was an urgent need to repair the collapsed bridge to ease the sufferings of the people in the area.

Hon Agyei appealed to the Afigya Kwabre South District Assembly to hear the cries of the people in the area and take immediate steps to reconstruct the bridge to bring relief to the people.

Ataa Maame, a trader also appealed to the government and stakeholders to help fix the bridge to prevent the area from being cut off from other communities in the district.

She said more than six vehicles had fallen into the bridge yet, it seemed nobody was interested in ensuring that it was fixed to save lives.
