Power outage hit parts of Ghana for hours on Monday

Electricity outage hit many parts of the country on Monday evening after the power had fluctuated for a few seconds.

Many parts of Ghana were thrown into darkness following the unexpected power outage on Monday night at about 7:30pm and power was not immediately restored to some parts until the morning of Tuesday at about 7am.

The cause of the outage is not yet known.

Ashanti Region, Greater Accra Region, Northern Region and many areas reported of the outage.

Dansoman, Nima, Teshie in Greater Accra was heavily affected.

In the Northern Region, there was a total blackout from around 9pm on Monday until about 4.30am when power was restored only to go off again a few minutes later.

Some parts of the Western Region including the capital, Takoradi, also experienced the outage.

The Bono Region was not spared as the blackout forced many residents to spend the night in darkness.
