UTAG suspends strike action temporarily
The National Executive Committee (NEC) of University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG) has announced that it has suspended its industrial action temporarily.
The temporal withdrawal according to the committee follows an emergency meeting on 21st February,2022 at the University of Professional Studies,Accra (UPSA) to ”deliberate on the way forward regarding the withrawal of teaching and related services on the various campuses”
The NEC of UTAG also ”considered the appeal from the Parliamentary Select Committee on Education to suspend our strike action,negotiable and report to them within one(1) week.

UTAG wants government to restore their 2012 conditions of service, which pegged the monthly income of entry-level lecturers at $2,084.
The Association has complained that the current arrangement has reduced its members’ basic premiums to $997.84.
On February 15, the Court granted an interlocutory injunction against UTAG’s industrial action after an appeal by the National Labour Commission (NLC).
The NLC dragged UTAG to court after attempts to have UTAG call off its strike failed.
University Teachers’ Association of Ghana (UTAG) begun a nationwide strike action on January 10, 2022, over government’s failure to review their conditions of service since 2017.
