Bernard Antwi Boasiako ‘Chairman Wontumi’ has retained his position as Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party(NPP) in the just-ended Regional Executives elections of the ruling party.
‘Wontumi’ secured a third term as Regional Chairman for the NPP in the Ashanti Region in what many describe as silence majority votes.
He polled 464 votes as against his top challenger Odeneho Kwaku Appiah who pulled 306 votes.
Before the elections some agitated party members, more especially Region Council of Elders and the Tertiary Students Confederacy (TESCON) leaders in Kumasi threatened to seek court injunction over omission or replacement of names in the voters album, restraining their executives from voting on Saturday.
