Bantamahene, Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI, commenced his 6th Anniversary celebrations with a Health Walk to the Sofo Line Interchange in Kumasi Metropolitan District of the Ashanti Region.
The anniversary celebrations officially kick-started on Saturday June 11, 2022 with the Walk as well as free health screening exercise at the Kumasi Lebanon Club compound near the Kumasi Arts and Culture Center premises in Bantama.
The occasion,which coincided with the birthday celebration of the Bantamahene, is being held to mark 6years since his ascension to the Royal Stool of Bantama.
A series of activities have been lined up to including the Health Walk and Free Health Screening, which took place on Saturday June 11, was free for all residents of Bantama and people in the community to celebrate this milestone. Thanksgivig Service would be held in the morning at the Bantama Roman Catholic Church on Monday June 13, 2022 and a royal reception in the afternoon to bring together residents including health professionals, traditional authorities, technocrats and politicians as well as Civil Society Organizations.
The mammoth health walk and screening event was successful as many women and men came out to exercise and check their status and also educate themselves about some diseases and especially for recent monkey pox diease.
Bantamahene ascended the respected throne in 2016 with stool name is Baffour Owusu Amankwatia VI and succeeded Baffour Asare Owusu Amankwatia V who died early the year.
The Bantama stool is very prominent in Kumasi and the Manhyia Palace and that the occupant of the stool pays an unalloyed loyalty, dedication and honesty to the Asantehene.
The Bantamahene, is also the head of the Krontire clan (Head of town) of the Kumasi Traditional Council and also serves as the war marshal of the Asantehene.
