Southampton Stun Chelsea 2:1

Southampton dug deep to beat Chelsea 2:1 at the Saint Mary Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Former Manchester City talisman Raheem Sterling put the blues ahead in the 23rd minute.

Romeo Lavia, also a former Manchester City player levelled the scoreline in the 28th minute of the game.

The defenders of Chelsea failed to clear a corner and the ball entered the goal post, beating helpless Edouard Mendy .

From then on the home side with support from their teeming Supporters scored their second goal on the 46 minute through Adam Armstrong.

Ralph Hasenhutt’s men now lies seventh on the league table and same points with Chelsea but a goal more than them.

Chelsea had most of the possession in the second period of the game but could not utilize the numerous chances that came their way.

The consistent resistance from Southampton ensured they carry the day.

Thus, the win by the Saints move them to the seventh position on the premier league table after five games to the new season.

Thomas Tuchel”s Chelsea has now won two, drawn one and lost two of their five Premier League matches, languishing in the eighth position.

Elsewhere in the Premier League on Tuesday evening Crystal Palace drew one apiece with Brentford, whiles Fulham defeated Brighton and Hove Albion by 2:1 and Leeds United also drew one all with Everton.
