Rapper ‘AKA’ shot dead

South African Rapper, Kiernan Jarryd Forbes known as AKA, has been shot dead.

According to reports by the police in Durban, he was allegedly murdered in a drive-by shooting on Florida Road on Friday night at the YUGO nightclub located in Stamford Hill in Durban (South Africa).

Some persons in two cars were believed to have opened fire on the rapper around 10pm on Friday. AKA was meant to celebrate his birthday.

AKA was standing outside the Wish Restaurant when he was gunned down in the drive-by shooting.

His bodyguard who was with him at the time, was also wounded, while another unknown person, who is understood to be a close friend of the singer, was also killed.

Born and raised in Cape Town, Forbes gained recognition after releasing his single “Victory Lap” from his debut studio album, Altar Ego in 2010.

The renowned rapper had records with Ghanaian rapper and entrepreneur Sarkodie, Gyakie , Nigerian icon Burna Boy.

The Fast-rising South African megastar confirmed his long-awaited, “Mass Country” release date for 24th February 2023, just some two weeks away but he sadly did not live to witness that.
